Dr Jo Doran
Dr Jo Doran is a doctor with over 30 years’ experience in palliative care. She currently works for the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service as a senior consultant.
Originally from the UK, she trained in London and completed her post graduate training in Sydney. From 1999-2012 she was Area Medical Director for Palliative Care in Northern NSW.
She has been involved in involved in policy development and implementation on local, state and national levels.
She is passionate about education in end-of-life care and is highly regarded as a guest speaker. She is known for her entertaining, original and informative talks, and always aims to challenge and inspire others with compassion, playfulness, insight and generosity.
In recognition of her contribution to palliative care she was awarded the Palliative Care NSW Leadership Award, was nominated for NSW Woman of the Year and more recently was nominated as Mentor of the Year in her current role.
Dr Chi Li
Dr Chi Li is a palliative care physician based in northeast Victoria, with an interest in rural health, psycho-oncology, clinical supervision and mentoring, and partnering with consumers.
Jeanie Farrington
Jeanie is a motivated, creative and versatile community health professional with strong communication, interpersonal, public relations and management skills. She continues to use her knowledge and experiences as a volunteer in her small rural community.
Jeanie has extensive experience leading health and community services in Metropolitan and regional Victoria. She was first introduced to palliative care as a palliative care night nurse with RDNS and continues to be passionate about palliative care.
As a change manager she was responsible for the amalgamation of three School Nurse Services in Southern Metropolitan Region. As a Senior Program Advisor for the Health Department she led the redevelopment of the statewide School Nursing Program.
Jeanie was Executive Director of Women’s Health Goulburn North East, the Hume Region’s Womens’ Health Service.
As Manager of Hume Regional Palliative Care during its establishment, she supported a passionate team and worked with relevant community professionals to create a consistency of community based palliative care services across the region.

We aim to build the capacity of Residential Aged Care Facilities and Disability Accommodation Services in the Hume Region to provide high quality care which meets individual needs/preferences of clients with life limiting illnesses.
Norieul Kinross
Ambulance Victoria
Norieul is one of Ambulance Victoria’s 16 Paramedic Community Support Coordinators (PCSC) based in regional locations across Victoria. She comes from a nursing and paramedicine background with 19 years’ experience practicing in various Victorian healthcare settings. Norieul works in the Strathbogie region where her work is focused on building health resilience, improving health outcomes, and enabling optimal palliative paramedicine practice. Integral to her work are strong connections within the local primary health and palliative care services on shared care arrangements to improve patient care. Through these important connections, Ambulance Victoria, Palliative Care Services and Primary Health Networks can collaborate to optimise and safeguard care. Norieul has a keen interest in chronic disease management – in particular, chronic lung disease and improving outcomes for this complex patient group.
Steven Pitman
Nurse Practitioner
Steven Pitman is a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner with Yarrawonga and NCN Health. Steven has completed a Masters of Palliative Care and Masters of Nurse Practitioner through Flinders University. Steven has had over 20 years experience working in palliative care and his special interests include aged care, communication and fostering practical wisdom in palliative care.

My background is predominantly in Emergency for 20 years with stints out Rural and Remote in indigenous communities for about 5 years. Since Seymour I have also extended to Virtual ED, Aged Care and Palliative Care.
Tiffany Button
Tiffany is a Project Officer working with Palliative Care Victoria. Alongside her team, she has developed the Dignified and Respectful Decisions resources for aged care services launched in February this year. Tiffany has been a registered nurse of more than 15 years and began her career in aged care as a personal care worker before moving into critical care as a registered nurse. Over the course of her clinical career, she has pursued roles in education, management, and co-ordination both within Australia and Internationally. She is a passionate advocate for equitable access to health care and improving patient outcomes which led her to complete a Masters in Public Health in 2022. Tiffany now seeks to inspire the next generation of nurses to deliver high quality care and pioneer new ways of working in an ever-changing health care system.
Alison Gamble
Alison Gamble is a Social Worker with the Lower Hume Palliative Care team, also providing Social Work support across Seymour Health. She provides psycho-social support, practical assistance and a compassionate ear to consumers and their families through their palliative care journey. She also works to bring the lessons learnt working with those at end of life to enhance the healthcare journey of those earlier in illness trajectory and through significant life transitions.
Alison holds a Master of Social Work from Monash University and a Graduate Certificate in Bereavement Counselling & Intervention from the Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement. She is currently nearing completion of a Master of Mental Health from La Trobe University. Passionate about continuous learning, Alison actively seeks opportunities to critically reflect on her practice and integrate new knowledge to enhance her practice.
Sarah Newton
After many different careers, Sarah Newton found her place in nursing 15 years ago. After working in Acute wards, Aged Care, Oncology and Community Nursing, Sarah realised her place was in Palliative Care, where she has worked for the past 8 years, with a majority of this time at Northeast Health Community Palliative Care.
Sarah is also the Motor Neurone Shared care Worker for the Hume region, providing support and education for health care providers and care providers in the Hume region.
John Davis
John joined the Aged Care Council of Elders in December 2023. As a Victorian member he is based in the north east border region.
Born and raised in South Australia, John’s background is as a teacher, historian, author, and Anglican priest for 45 years. He is a strong advocate in the areas of palliative and aged care and for the LGBTIQ+ communities. John brings valuable insight to his role on the Council including through his lived experience of what it is to navigate health and ageing and the aged care system, as an older person in regional Australia and as a carer for his partner.
He has a Doctorate in Theology on the national constitutional structure of the Anglican Church. On retirement in 2015 John was made Archdeacon Emeritus by the Diocese of Wangaratta.
John is heavily involved and connected at the local community level, knowing firsthand the challenges and impact ageing, health and aged care has on individuals and those who offer care and support.
Doctor Paul Molina Chavez migrated to Australia over 16 years ago from Ecuador. He was trained as a General Practitioner in Rural Queensland and holds a Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine (Royal Australian College of Physicians). He practices as a Rural General Practitioner and is the Director of Wangaratta Medical Centre. He is also a Medical Educator for the RACGP and the Director of the Medical Degree Year 3 Rural Pathway – University of Melbourne. He was awarded the RACGP Victoria GP of the Year in 2023. He is passionate about quality of care, improving quality of life, mentoring and teaching.
